The World Bank / LIS Gender Research Award

The World Bank’s Gender and Development program and LIS jointly sponsor a LIS Working Paper award.

The award is for papers that have a focus on gender and that include at least one middle-income country. For a list of countries in the LIS Database that are currently classified as “middle-income” see our country classification chart.

Initiated in 2009, the award will be presented four times, to the author(s) of the best eligible LIS Working Paper submitted during the prior year. The award is peer reviewed.

Recipients of the Gender Research Award receive a €750 cash prize, shared by all authors where there is more than one author, plus an invitation to serve as a faculty member, and to present the winning paper, at the subsequent LIS Summer Workshop.

The award is granted only for years during which LIS receives a substantial pool of eligible papers. Stay tuned for more award recipients as the number of middle-income countries included in LIS grows!
