LIS Data Center Launches the Beta Release of the Luxembourg Consumption Study (LCS)
We are excited to launch the beta release of the Luxembourg Consumption Study (LCS), a new milestone for comparative research and the third pillar of the LIS Cross-National Data Center’s microdata infrastructure, alongside the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) and the Luxembourg Wealth Study (LWS). LCS delivers harmonised, cross-national household consumption microdata aligned with COICOP 2018, capturing both monetary and non-monetary consumption (including imputed rent, own production, and in-kind transfers) across countries spanning the income spectrum, from long-standing LIS members such as Belgium, Italy, and the United Kingdom to newer additions like Mali, Laos, and the Philippines.
The beta release covers, in total, 113 micro datasets from 16 countries, now live on LISSY, the LIS remote-execution system, and immediately available for research use. Full documentation, including variable definitions, comparability notes, and harmonisation choices, is available in METIS and the LCS Technical Documentation, with Compare.It supporting cross-country comparability checks.
