François Bourguignon

François Bourguignon, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the Paris School of Economics and LIS President presented the 2018 LIS Summer lecture: Inequality and globalisation, a brief review of facts and arguments.

François Bourguignon has been the director of the Paris School from 2007 to 2013. Before that he was the chief economist and senior vice-president of the World Bank in Washington. He spent the rest of his career as a professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. His work bears upon the distribution and redistribution of income in developed and developing countries. He has authored a large number of academic papers and books. He is also active in the international development community, lecturing and advising leading international agencies as well as foreign governments.

He has authored numerous books and most recently The globalization of Inequality, Princeton University Press, 2015; Handbook of Income Distribution Volume 2, Elsevier (co-edited with A. B. Atkinson, 2014).
